Want to travel for free or at least save a heap of money on your bookings? Of course you do. We thought it would be useful for travellers, especially those from the UK, to explain how we gather points and miles and use them to save money. Travel can be cheap but frequently isn’t and it’s important you know how to extend your ability to experience the world as much as possible.

Over the last few years we’ve saved hundreds if not thousands of pounds simply by taking advantage of loyalty schemes, everyday spending, and a bit of time doing research.

Our Crazy Japan Deal

Japan is a notoriously expensive destination in which to travel but after coming across an unmissable deal on flights came along we couldn’t say no and were determined to make it work. The schedule would be fast paced, the travel time would be extended more than we’d like but even with extra travel plans in place and accommodation booked, we’ve still come in under the budget of the cheapest return tickets for two people from the UK to Japan which means we now have more money to put towards pricey Shinkansen passes and drinks at the Robot bar!

When we set out on our trip to the far side of the world we knew it was going to be long haul and the seasons in New Zealand are so variable that we needed gear for varying climates. Instead of spending more money on clothes and whatever we needed while we were away it made sense to take as much as we could fit into our bags. We did pick up a few invaluable items however which made our travelling a lot easier and more efficient.
