After recently turning 28, bubbling under the surface is a need to hit the road, travelling across another continent, exploring the sights and sounds it has to offer (it’s been too long)! Since returning from a round the world trip in 2011 with my girlfriend Rebecca, I have been living in Bristol working as a cameraman and editor for Immediate Media. The content of my job is very varied and I enjoy working across subjects such as astronomy, history, triathlon and weddings. The aim is to film two personal documentary projects next year, one for my Mum’s charity http://www.himalayanchildren.co.uk/ and another for a yet to be decided subject. Watch this space.

I don’t have many photos of myself because of travelling solo a lot. I used to keep a kind of video diary in New Zealand, really just as a personal project, to try to help me keep my sanity. So I screen grabbed this. It was wet, the path was a stream, I was not sure how far I had to go, where I was going to sleep, and was a long way from other people. As that was a large part of that time, this seemed an appropriate face to be pulling. In the end the video diaries turned out to be more of a record of not much sanity!

I’m just a guy who sometimes travels, sometimes works and tries to enjoy life!
I’m a film-maker when I work, and a general adventurer when I don’t. I try to get outside and see new stuff and meet new people as often as possible, whatever I’m doing. Other people rock, so I jump at a chance to join in with something they do that I haven’t before, and I always try to invite people to join me for whatever I do!
I reckon we should all knock down our garden fences and have shared gardens.

I am a 21 year old aspiring actor who dabbles in photography and cares a little too much about his hair. At around the age of thirteen I found out that the only thing I was any good at was making a fool of myself on stage. In pursing this I met some great people, had some amazing experiences and made my way into drama school. Hoping to take my career in acting further I have dropped it all and disappeared into the wilds of Canada on my own for a year, bracing the politeness and the cold to explore some of the most amazing landscapes in the world. Laid back is commonly how people describe me, too lazy to give a reasonable reaction is more accurate though.

We put together a set of questions to ask travellers whether they travel short or long term. Be inspired as Alex tells us about his experiences in the extreme cold and vast landscape of Canada…
